We provide youth, between the ages of 6 to 18, with alternatives to violence, gang membership, truancy and substance abuse. Our programs instill the importance of integrity, respect, discipline, self-esteem, leadership, teamwork and other valuable life skills that increase individual self-worth and breed success.
"The PAL program supported me by giving me encouragement and support when I needed it the most. It brought me together with others who mentored me, answered my questions, and gave me advice that made things easier in school and life. PAL also gave me a place where I felt comfortable expressing my opinions and learning new things to improve myself. Above all, it boosted my confidence and encouraged me that I don't need to be by myself since there are people who want to see me achieve." -- Glennoi Pottinger
“Hartford PAL has been a part of my life for many years. I began attending PAL when I was in the second grade. I went there until I got to high school. I reconnected with PAL through the GEMS program my junior year of high school. GEMS was an all-girl program associated with PAL and ReadyCT. From there I was offered a paid summer internship at PAL by ReadyCT. I was later hired by PAL and have been employed by PAL for the last 3 years. This job has opened many opportunities for me. I’ve received scholarships from organizations such as the Cal Ripken Foundation and am now going into my second year at the University of Hartford. Hartford PAL has allowed me to make connections with others and give back to the community I grew up in.” – Zarileyxis Gomez
